Gulf Outsiders Little Understand What is Happening to People

Solveclimate.com -- By Tim Gautreaux,

Excerpts

"Those who live in Louisiana all their lives develop an understanding of disaster. We know a hurricane can turn over hundreds of offshore oil rigs ...Refineries explode, rigs blow up, pipelines burst,"

"There's hardly a family in the Gulf region that does not have a member involved in the oil industry."

Heavy dark oil began to pool against the Louisiana marshes, coating wildlife with a greasy, glue-like batter – no one can ever know how many thousands of animals have died, how many carcasses are at the bottom of the quarter million square miles of the Gulf.

How much oil? Who will ever know? As of now, a safe final estimate, if the cap holds and the relief wells work, is 200 million gallons. .Locals are losing sleep about how much oil is looming underwater

Apparently, there isn't a problem. The Feds can't find the oil in the Gulf. If the government can't find it, it must be gone, therefore there is not problem.

I agree with our friend from Vancouver - I too feel sorry for the animals and sea life as they have no say in this and they are the losers. Wonder if there will be any seals or pelicans or sea turtles for our great-grandchildren to enjoy.

Any way you look at it, life in La is no bowl of cherries. One would think that a new occupation might be a better way.

This article has a lot of truth in it and most people will never realize how much impact the oil spill has had on the lives of those in Louisiana and states on the Gulf of Mexico. It will be many years before the people of Louisiana have a normal life.

Then I would think that they should demand all safety measures are carefully checked prior to drilling, then to drill with great care and do not go so fast as to tear up the drilling site. There are so many factors in all of this.

SO,
if you want to stop oil drilling, transport, refining, and distribution, ask for it.

But,
be careful, what you ask for.

You might get it.

There go your boat holidays.

You can bet your life I'd hate to be in their shoes. My wife & I have made qite a few trips along that coast line going to & from Houston Texas. Between hurricanes & oil spills they have suffered..I dont particularly like to ride on boats but I do enjoy being in harbor areas...Seeing what they caught when they come back in...

People who live in the Gulf understands offshore drilling, hurricanes, etc.
People who live in California understand earthquakes.
People who live inside the country understand winter blizzards.
People who live in arid or semi-arid areas understand droughts.
[Fill in more examples here.]

One-size-fits-none federal government-mandated "solutions" usually fail.

Martinman: I have the same questions the author of this article. Some of his points are pure rubbish.
